In September 2026, people searched for GitHub Copilot by name about 1,620 times in New Zealand, an 18.2% decrease from the previous year. These searches made up 12.2% of all New Zealand AI coding assistant searches, placing GitHub Copilot third out of eight assistants. When we asked both ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews about AI coding assistants, GitHub Copilot appeared in all answers and was the second most recommended of the eight.
