In September 2026, Shopify had more branded searches than Squarespace among ecommerce platforms in New Zealand. Shopify had about 24,400 branded searches, while Squarespace had 16,000. Shopify made up 42.1% of all ecommerce platform searches we track, and Squarespace accounted for 27.7%. When we asked ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews about ecommerce platforms, Shopify appeared in all five answers and Squarespace in three. Shopify was mentioned before Squarespace in every answer.

In three ChatGPT questions and two Google AI Overviews, Shopify appeared in all five answers. Squarespace was mentioned in three out of five: in two of the three ChatGPT answers and in one of the two Google AI Overviews. Shopify was listed before Squarespace in every answer.
