In September 2026, Discord had more branded searches than Google Chat among team chat apps worldwide. Discord had about 30.4 million branded searches, while Google Chat had 3.4 million. Discord made up 72% of all team chat app searches we track, and Google Chat accounted for 7.9%. When we asked ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews about team chat apps, Google Chat appeared in all five answers and Discord in three. Google Chat was mentioned before Discord in every answer.

In three ChatGPT questions and two Google AI Overviews, Google Chat appeared in all five answers. Discord was mentioned in three out of five: in two of the three ChatGPT answers and in one of the two Google AI Overviews. Google Chat was listed before Discord in every answer.
