ChatGPT, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot:Which are most popular?

In September 2026, ChatGPT drew 93.1% of estimated branded searches across these three brands in New Zealand, ahead of Gemini at 4.2%. When we checked with ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT showed up in every answer. Of all five brands we track in AI chatbots, ChatGPT was the most recommended, Gemini was third and Microsoft Copilot was fourth.

In three ChatGPT questions and two Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT appeared every time. Of all five brands we track in AI chatbots, ChatGPT was the most recommended, Gemini was third and Microsoft Copilot was fourth.
