How popular isChatGPT?

In September 2026, people searched for ChatGPT by name about 4.2 million times in New Zealand, a 7% increase from the previous year. These searches made up 90.8% of all New Zealand AI chatbot searches, placing ChatGPT first out of five chatbots. When we asked both ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews about AI chatbots, ChatGPT appeared in all answers and was the most recommended of the five.
