In September 2026, Shopify had more branded searches than Wix among website builders in New Zealand. Shopify had about 24,300 branded searches, while Wix had 16,500. Shopify made up 30.2% of all website builder searches we track, and Wix accounted for 20.5%. When we asked ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews about website builders, Wix appeared in all five answers and Shopify in four. Wix was mentioned before Shopify in every answer.

In three ChatGPT questions and two Google AI Overviews, Wix appeared in all five answers. Shopify was mentioned in four out of five: in all three ChatGPT answers and in one of the two Google AI Overviews. Wix was listed before Shopify in every answer.
