Dropbox vs Google Drive:Which is more popular?

In September 2026, Google Drive had more branded searches than Dropbox among cloud file collaboration platforms in New Zealand. Google Drive had about 166,000 branded searches, while Dropbox had 27,800. Google Drive made up 85.4% of all cloud file collaboration platform searches we track, and Dropbox accounted for 14.3%. When we asked ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews about cloud file collaboration platforms, Dropbox appeared in all five answers and Google Drive in four. Dropbox was mentioned before Google Drive in three out of five answers.

Top cloud file collaboration platforms in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews

In three ChatGPT questions and two Google AI Overviews, Dropbox appeared in all five answers. Google Drive was mentioned in four out of five: in all three ChatGPT answers and in one of the two Google AI Overviews. Dropbox was listed before Google Drive in three out of five answers.
