In September 2026, people searched for Perplexity by name about 13.4 million times worldwide, a 64.4% decrease from the previous year. These searches made up 0.49% of all global generative AI platform searches, placing Perplexity fifth out of seven platforms. When we asked both ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews about generative AI platforms, Perplexity appeared in three of the five answers and was the fifth most recommended of the seven.

In three ChatGPT questions and two Google AI Overviews, Perplexity was mentioned in three out of five: in two of the three ChatGPT answers and in one of the two Google AI Overviews. Perplexity is the fifth most recommended of the seven.
