In September 2026, Komoot was the most searched hiking and tramping app worldwide, accounting for 52.9% of all searches among the five apps we track. When we checked with ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, AllTrails and Gaia GPS showed up in every answer. AllTrails was recommended most often, coming first in three out of five responses.

In Brandwave's three ChatGPT questions and two Google AI Overviews, AllTrails and Gaia GPS appeared every time. AllTrails was recommended most often, coming first in three out of five answers. Gaia GPS was second, and Avenza Maps was third. Wikiloc, which ranked third in searches, was not mentioned at all.
