In September 2026, PlantNet had more branded searches than Seek by iNaturalist among plant identification apps worldwide. PlantNet had about 40,500 branded searches, while Seek by iNaturalist had 3,600. PlantNet made up 38.1% of all plant identification app searches we track, and Seek by iNaturalist accounted for 3.4%. When we asked ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews about plant identification apps, PlantNet and Seek by iNaturalist each appeared in three of the five answers. PlantNet was mentioned before Seek by iNaturalist in three out of four answers that named either.

Top plant identification apps in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews
In three ChatGPT questions and two Google AI Overviews, PlantNet was mentioned in three out of five: in two of the three ChatGPT answers and in one of the two Google AI Overviews. Seek by iNaturalist was mentioned in three out of five: in all three ChatGPT answers, but not in either of the two Google AI Overviews. PlantNet was listed before Seek by iNaturalist in three out of four answers that named either.
