GitHub Copilot vs Replit:Which is more popular?

In September 2026, Replit had more branded searches than GitHub Copilot among AI coding agents worldwide. Replit had about 1.5 million branded searches, while GitHub Copilot had 583,000. Replit made up 21.1% of all AI coding agent searches we track, and GitHub Copilot accounted for 8.1%. When we asked ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews about AI coding agents, GitHub Copilot appeared in four of the five answers and Replit in one. GitHub Copilot was mentioned before Replit in every answer that named either.

Top AI coding agents in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews

In three ChatGPT questions and two Google AI Overviews, GitHub Copilot was mentioned in four out of five: in all three ChatGPT answers and in one of the two Google AI Overviews. Replit was mentioned in one out of five: in one of the three ChatGPT answers, but not in either of the two Google AI Overviews. GitHub Copilot was listed before Replit in every answer that named either.
