In September 2026, Toyota was the most searched car brand in Australia, accounting for 11.4% of all searches among the 57 brands we track. When we checked with ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, Toyota and Hyundai showed up in every answer. Toyota was recommended most often, coming first in all four responses that gave a list.

Top car brands in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews
In Brandwave's three ChatGPT questions and two Google AI Overviews, Toyota and Hyundai appeared every time. Toyota was recommended most often, coming first in all four answers that gave a list. Hyundai was second, and BYD was third. Zeekr, which ranked 13th in searches, was not mentioned at all.
